The Pastor’s Journey

Elder Alexander accepted his calling by God into the ministry in May of 1994. He preached his first sermon at Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ in Kilgore, Texas under the leadership of Superintendent Riley Hicks. He received his license in the COGIC in 1996, also serving as assistant pastor there. Elder Alexander was ordained by the General Assembly Church of the Living God in Rosemont, IL in June of 1998. In addition, Elder Alexander served as assistant pastor at the Church of the Living God, Kilgore, Texas under the leadership of the Elder Emmett Hill, Jr. until1999. He was then appointed pastor by the General Assembly to the Church of the Living God of Mt. Pleasant, Texas in December of 1999. There he served as pastor for 13 years. In November of 2012 Elder Alexander was appointed to the Church of the Living God in Temple, Texas where he currently serves. Elder Alexander attended Kilgore College where he received an Associate of Applied Arts degree in mid-management. He also attended the University of Texas at Tyler were he received his Bachelor of Applied Arts & Science degree in management & technology. His continuing education consists of studies at the East Texas Center for Biblical Studies and East Texas Baptist University by way of the General Assembly Institute. Elder Alexander also has received supervisory training from Marriott International and TMI Hospitality Inc. He has served in the hospitality industry for over 20 years. He is married to the First Lady, Eldress Debra (Richardson) Alexander. They are a power couple and have been married for more than 10 years. Eldress Alexander has truly been a wonderful wife and huge asset to Elder Alexander’s pastoral roll and ministry. Together they walk boldly in the fear of the Lord. Elder Alexander loves to listen to gospel music. Some of his favorite artists/songs include Luther Barnes (Don’t Let it Be in Vain), Eddie Reddic (He’s a Lilly in the Valley), Myron Butler (Bless the Lord), Smokie Norful, (Still say, Thank you) Earnest Pugh (I Need your Glory), Donald Lawrence just to name a few. Sometimes Elder Alexander tries to step out and sing a little. His favorite musical instrument is the tambourine. He is also an active member of the Southwest Regional Music Workshop Mass Choir and also serves as Assistant Chaplin. Some of Elder Alexander’s favorite biblical scriptures are Matthew 6:33, 1st John 3:22, and Luke 1:37. Some of his favorite quotes are “The Best Time to Repent is Yesterday, the Second Best Time is Now” & “The Devil is a Lie.” He loves to laugh, enjoy the fellowship with family. But the single most important thing that happened in Elder Alexander’s life is when the Lord forgave him for his sins and welcomed him in his arms as His child. Elder Alexander believes no one is perfect and we have all fallen short (Romans 3:23) but there is nothing too hard for God to solve in an individual’s life.
